The two-day Scientific Conference entitled “As a Man He Was a Poet, as a Poet a Man: Aspects of the Life and Work of Kostas Montis” concluded on Sunday, 1 December 2024. The conference was organized by the Centre for Literary and Cultural Studies (KELOPOS) in collaboration with the Department of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies of the University of Cyprus, marking 110 years since the poet’s birth and 20 years since his death.
The conference’s nineteen speakers approached Kostas Montis’ prose and poetic work from multiple perspectives, further expanding and enriching Montis studies, while also offering a wide range of stimuli for constructive and fruitful discussions on issues that remain open and subject to debate.
The conference was held under the auspices of the Deputy Minister of Culture, Dr. Vasiliki Kassianidou, and was supported by the Photos Photiadis Public Benefit and Cultural Foundation.
