Despina is a copyeditor and a literary translator between Greek, English and French. She holds a BA in Translation Studies from the Ionian University, Greece, and two MAs: in English Literature and Comparative Cultural Studies (University of Cyprus), and in Theatre Studies (Open University of Cyprus). Recent translations include Life by Lu Yao (from English to Greek, Armida 2025), Mère by Wajdi Mouawad (from French to Greek for Cyprus’s National Theatre, winter 2025) and Selected Poems by Desmond Egan (Armida, 2024, with a subsidy by Literature Ireland). Her articles on literary translation have been featured in international translation journals and collective volumes. Between 2023-2025 she served for four consecutive terms in the five-member Evaluation Committee appointed by Cyprus’s Deputy Ministry of Culture to review and approve subsidy support for new theatre productions. During the 2021 theatrical season she served as juror for the Cyprus Theatre Awards. She is the author of a novel (Exantas, Athens, 1999) and two staged plays: Sommerfugl (Larnaka, Cyprus 2014) and Anaesthesia (Larnaka, Cyprus 2016).
