Dr Chrysanthi Demetriou

Chrysanthi is an educator with extensive experience in both secondary and higher education. She studied Classics in Cyprus and completed an MPhil at the University of Cambridge, funded by the Cambridge Trusts, followed by a PhD at the University of Leeds, supported by a Leeds University Research Scholarship. She has served as Adjunct Tutor and course coordinator for Latin at the Open University of Cyprus and has taught Latin at the University of Cyprus and the University of Leeds. In addition, she has taught Greek and Classical Civilisation at the English School, Nicosia. Her research and teaching interests centre on Roman comedy, ancient commentaries and scholia, the reception of classical (Latin) literature in Late Antiquity and the Middle Ages, and the role of Latin in education from antiquity to the present, including digital and online learning environments. She is co-editor (with S. Papaioannou) of Plautus’ Erudite Comedy: New Insights into the Work of a doctus poeta (Cambridge Scholars, 2020) and has published several articles and book chapters in her areas of expertise. She is a member of the international research network RELICS (University of Ghent) and serves as both member and coordinator of the editorial board of the Journal of Latin Cosmopolitanism and European Literatures. She currently works as a teacher in secondary education in Cyprus.
