Antonis K. Petrides

Antonis is Associate Professor of Classics at the Open University of Cyprus, where he has taught since 2007 and currently serves as Vice Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Director of the BA Programme in Hellenic Studies. He studied Greek Philology at the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki (BA, 1999) and completed his MPhil (2001) and PhD (2005) at Trinity College, Cambridge. His research focuses on ancient Greek theatre, especially Menander, and the reception of the classical world in antiquity and the modern day. He has also published on Modern Greek literature and theatre, as well as the history of his native Cyprus. Further interests include the didactics of ancient Greek literature in secondary education, digital pedagogy, and distance learning. His latest book, Menander’s Dyskolos: Introduction, Edition, and Commentary (Oxford: Oxford University Press) is forthcoming in 2026.
