Scientific Conference
Nicosia, Cyprus
07/05/2026
- 08/05/2026
The Centre for Literary and Cultural Studies (KELOPOS), in collaboration with the Centre for Creativity Research (CCR) of the Jagiellonian University of Kraków, is organizing an international conference dedicated to literary multilingualism.
The relationship between language, creativity, and textual production has long been a central focus in linguistics and literary theory. Despite significant advances in recent decades, important questions remain regarding how multilingualism dynamically shapes the creative process.
The conference focuses on the work of major European authors such as Samuel Beckett, James Joyce, Alexander Pushkin, and Dionysios Solomos. It explores how multiple linguistic influences interact in the writing process, particularly in cases where seemingly monolingual published works emerge from fundamentally multilingual creative practices.
For the first time in Cyprus, the event will bring together leading scholars in literary multilingualism from France, Belgium, Poland, Portugal, and the United Kingdom. It aims to become a major academic event with international impact, while highlighting Cyprus as a dynamic hub for scholarly exchange.
